Winner photo contest
The winner of the Suitecase conversations photo contest has been announced!
The diversity of submissions shows that visitors of the Comfortzone exhibition thoroughly enjoyed playing with the five objects they could use to create their own still life — exactly as we had hoped. At the same time, the results also reveal the challenge behind the assignment: how do you ensure that the composition becomes a coherent whole, something more than just the sum of its parts?
The winning still life by Stan Vos
According to the jury, the winning photograph succeeds best in this. In it, the objects clearly interact with one another, creating not only a sense of dialogue but also a recognizable interplay of lines. This layered image by Stan Vos is the photograph that best resonates with the existing Kofferconversaties series. Stan thus earns an honorary place within the series, which can be seen every weekend through October 26 at Wallhouse #2.
In addition, the photo by Eliana Chuquizata receives an honorable mention for its playfulness and humor. The image evokes the feeling of a magic trick that has gone tragically wrong — lighthearted and thought-provoking at once.
The jury warmly thanks all participants who found inspiration in our work and then set out to create something of their own.
De winnaar van de Kofferconversaties fotowedstrijd is bekend!
De diversiteit aan inzendingen laat zien dat bezoekers van de expositie Comfortzone heerlijk hebben gespeeld met de vijf objecten waarmee ze een eigen stilleven mochten maken - en dat was precies de bedoeling. Tegelijkertijd wordt in de resultaten ook de moeilijkheid van de opdracht zichtbaar: hoe zorg je ervoor dat het een samenhangend geheel wordt dat meer is dan de som der delen?

De winnende foto slaagt daar volgens de jury het beste in. Daarin gaan de objecten duidelijk een relatie met elkaar aan, waardoor niet alleen interactie ontstaat, maar ook een herkenbaar lijnenspel. Dat maakt het gelaagde beeld van Stan Vos de foto die het beste aansluit bij de bestaande serie Kofferconversaties. Daarmee verdient Stan een eervolle plek binnen de serie, die t/m 26 oktober elk weekend te zien is in Wallhouse #2
Daarnaast krijgt de foto van Eliana Chuquizata een eervolle vermelding vanwege de speelsheid en humor die eruit spreken. Het beeld doet denken aan een goocheltruc die op tragische wijze is misgegaan – lichtvoetig en prikkelend tegelijk.
De jury wil alle deelnemers hartelijk danken die inspiratie vonden in ons werk en vervolgens zelf creatief aan de slag gingen.
