New expo!
We’re celebrating an anniversary! The photographers’ collective Contretemps turns 20 this year — a perfect reason for an exhibition. From 21 February through 3 May 2026, I will be exhibiting together with Niels Taatgen, Roelie van der Voort, Robert Jan Wijdh and Max Witjes at UMCG.
Each of us created a personal interpretation of the concept Contretemps. Curated by Robert van der Molen, three works from each series will be on view at UMCG (opposite the Department of Ophthalmology).
Across various manifestations, we portray the withdrawn human figure, both in time and in space. At the same time, the images reveal that it is precisely in moments of stillness that space emerges for new insights and unexpected resilience.
We zijn jarig! Het fotografencollectief Contretemps bestaat 20 jaar! Dat vraagt natuurlijk om een expositie: vanaf 21 februari t/m 3 mei 2026 exposeer ik samen met Niels Taatgen, Roelie van der Voort, Robert Jan Wijdh en Max Witjes in het UMCG. Elk van ons maakte een persoonlijke interpretatie van het begrip Contretemps. Gecureerd door Robert van der Molen zullen uit elke serie drie beelden in het UMCG te zien zijn (tegenover oogheelkunde).
In verschillende verschijningsvormen laten we de teruggetrokken mens zien, in zowel tijd als ruimte. Tegelijk laten de beelden zien dat juist in momenten van stilstand ruimte ontstaat voor nieuwe inzichten en onverwachte veerkracht.
