LensCulture Critics' Choice 2025 (Series) review of ‘Moments that never synced’
Thank you for sharing your work with us. Looking at your images as a whole, without reading the P.S., I felt like being in front of a challenging subjective work with poetic identity. I assumed that the subject is metaphorical and based on personal symbols. This fact makes it cryptic and open to more than one interpretation, but there is a common feeling of a presence that wanders in a universe full of wonders where everything is possible and nothing is certain. The use of B&W increases the abstraction and unites unconnected elements, creating an artistic and attractive result. I could say that images please our eyes while activate our minds. The personal perception and representation of reality and the eerie atmosphere lead us to use our imagination, memories, and experiences to build content. So, you give us the freedom to appropriate the work in order to understand it and connect with your vision (in a loose and abstract way, of course). After all, the important in works like yours is not the full understanding, but the transmission of a consistent general feeling connected with the concept and your intention. In my opinion, most of the images fulfill this goal, especially those where there is a natural presence (like plants) and an abstract background that looks like outer space or a visualization of energy and time around us.
Although small circular formations seem to symbolize human presence and human relationships through failed encounters or parallel paths that do not meet (as you imply in the P.S.), their geometrical shape is not so able to lead us to living creatures but to their traces in space and time (moments, actually). For this reason, the natural elements inside the images are important, as I have already told you. Images 1 (mainly) and 4 somehow stand out because of visible direction and artificiality of the materials and do not transmit the described feeling as the rest. The result is a construction, an artwork, with high aesthetic and artistic quality but lacks the atmosphere and the transmitted feeling of the rest of the images. I believe that if you isolate images 2, 3, 5, 6, and look at them, you will understand what I mean.
Regardless from the above notice, the project has originality, artistic identity, and high quality, making it able to stand on its own in “respected international platforms”. Its most significant feature is its subjectivity, which increases its authenticity and show us your subjective view of reality. We can also see that you are a thoughtful, creative, unconventional, and sensitive person with high aesthetic criteria and a restless spirit. You look for the exceptional in the ordinary with a philosophical mood, and you make it visible by investing in abstraction, the balance between randomness and direction, and the transmitted feeling. It seems that you are a perfectionist who wants to control everything inside the frame, and the fact that you leave a door open to randomness and chaos proves it. I like the way you visualize abstract notions like order and chaos without making predictable choices but staying faithful to your subjective visual language. So, stay on the same truck, show us the way you see the world and invest in storytelling as regards the building of a series.

Dank je wel dat je jouw werk met ons hebt gedeeld. Toen ik naar je beelden keek als geheel, zonder het Nawoord te lezen, had ik het gevoel voor een uitdagend, subjectief werk te staan met een poëtische identiteit. Ik ging ervan uit dat het onderwerp metaforisch is en gebaseerd op persoonlijke symbolen. Dit maakt het cryptisch en open voor meerdere interpretaties, maar er is een gemeenschappelijk gevoel van een aanwezigheid die ronddwaalt in een universum vol wonderen, waar alles mogelijk is en niets zeker. Het gebruik van zwart-wit versterkt de abstractie en verbindt ogenschijnlijk niet-verwante elementen, waardoor een artistiek en aantrekkelijk resultaat ontstaat. Ik zou kunnen zeggen dat de beelden ons oog behagen, terwijl ze onze geest activeren.
De persoonlijke perceptie en representatie van de werkelijkheid, evenals de mysterieuze sfeer, zetten ons aan om onze verbeelding, herinneringen en ervaringen te gebruiken om betekenis te construeren. Zo geef je ons de vrijheid om het werk ons eigen te maken, om het te begrijpen en ons te verbinden met jouw visie (op een losse en abstracte manier, uiteraard). Uiteindelijk is het belangrijkste bij werken zoals dat van jou niet het volledig begrijpen, maar het overbrengen van een consistent algemeen gevoel dat verbonden is met het concept en jouw intentie. Naar mijn mening bereiken de meeste beelden dit doel, vooral die waarin er een natuurlijke aanwezigheid is (zoals planten) en een abstracte achtergrond die lijkt op de kosmos of een visualisatie van energie en tijd om ons heen.
Hoewel kleine cirkelvormige structuren lijken te verwijzen naar menselijke aanwezigheid en relaties via mislukte ontmoetingen of parallelle paden die elkaar niet kruisen (zoals je in het Nawoord suggereert), leidt hun geometrische vorm ons niet direct naar levende wezens, maar eerder naar hun sporen in ruimte en tijd (momenten, eigenlijk). Om die reden zijn de natuurlijke elementen in de beelden belangrijk, zoals ik je al heb gezegd. Beelden 1 (voornamelijk) en 4 vallen enigszins op door hun zichtbare richting en de kunstmatigheid van de materialen, en brengen niet hetzelfde gevoel over als de rest. Het resultaat is een constructie, een kunstwerk, met een hoge esthetische en artistieke kwaliteit, maar het mist de sfeer en het overgebrachte gevoel van de overige beelden. Ik geloof dat wanneer je beelden 2, 3, 5 en 6 afzonderlijk bekijkt, je zult begrijpen wat ik bedoel.
Afgezien van bovenstaande opmerking heeft het project originaliteit, een artistieke identiteit en hoge kwaliteit, waardoor het zelfstandig kan staan op “gerespecteerde internationale platforms”. De meest opvallende eigenschap is de subjectiviteit, wat de authenticiteit vergroot en ons jouw persoonlijke kijk op de werkelijkheid toont. We zien ook dat je een bedachtzaam, creatief, onconventioneel en gevoelig persoon bent, met hoge esthetische criteria en een rusteloze geest. Je zoekt het uitzonderlijke in het alledaagse met een filosofische inslag, en maakt dat zichtbaar door te investeren in abstractie, het evenwicht tussen willekeur en richting, en het overgebrachte gevoel. Het lijkt erop dat je een perfectionist bent die alles binnen het kader wil beheersen, en het feit dat je toch een deur openlaat voor willekeur en chaos bewijst dat. Ik waardeer hoe je abstracte begrippen als orde en chaos visualiseert zonder voorspelbare keuzes te maken, terwijl je trouw blijft aan je subjectieve visuele taal. Dus: blijf op deze weg, toon ons hoe jij de wereld ziet en investeer in storytelling als het gaat om het opbouwen van een serie.
