Allereerst de beste wensen voor 2026! Hopelijk was het afgelopen jaar voor jou net zo’n topjaar als voor mij. Ook benieuwd wat het nieuwe jaar zal brengen?

Ik geef toe: de ontwikkelingen op het gebied van wereldpolitiek en klimaat zijn op zijn minst zorgwekkend. Maar als we de blik even verleggen naar de kunst — wat zijn daar eigenlijk de trends en verwachtingen?

De toekomst laat zich lastig voorspellen, maar ter inspiratie kunnen we alvast een blik werpen op de agenda van fotografieplatform Noorderlicht. De afgelopen twee jaar stond kunstmatige intelligentie centraal in hun tentoonstellingen. De komende jaren verschuift het perspectief: de aandacht gaat meer uit naar ambacht en belichaamde kennis, als noodzakelijk tegenwicht voor kunstmatige intelligentie.

Die keuze past in een bredere ontwikkeling binnen kunst en design. Er is een duidelijke beweging richting mixed media en tactiele materialen — kunst die lagen combineert, voelbaar is en een fysieke aanwezigheid heeft. Laat dat nou precies zijn waar ik volop mee bezig ben. Kortom: ik heb er zin in. Hopelijk jij ook!

First of all, best wishes for 2026! I hope the past year was just as great for you as it was for me. Curious to see what the new year will bring?

I’ll admit it: developments in global politics and climate are, to say the least, worrying. But if we shift our focus for a moment to the arts — what trends and expectations can we identify there?

Predicting the future is never easy, but for inspiration we can take a look at the programme of the photography platform Noorderlicht. Over the past two years, artificial intelligence played a central role in their exhibitions. In the coming years, the perspective is shifting: the focus will move towards craft and embodied knowledge, as a necessary counterbalance to artificial intelligence.

This choice fits within a broader development in art and design. There is a clear movement towards mixed media and tactile materials — art that combines layers, invites touch, and has a strong physical presence. That happens to be exactly what I’ve been deeply engaged with myself. In short: I’m looking forward to what’s ahead. Hopefully you are too!

New websites

Afgelopen maand zag de nieuwe website, nieuwsbrief en het logo van het Landelijk Kennisnetwerk Psychiatrie en Hoogbegaafdheid het licht. Daar was ik verantwoordelijk voor, wat aanleiding was voor een interview. 

Het was de derde website die ik het afgelopen jaar in opdracht mocht maken. Ondertussen ben ik al ver gevorderd met twee nieuwe websites. En ik hoop dat er dit jaar nog verscheidene zullen volgen, want ik vind het echt superleuk om te doen.

Last month, the new website, newsletter and logo for the National Knowledge Network for Psychiatry and Giftedness were launched. I was responsible for the design, which led to an interview.

It was the third commissioned website I completed last year. Two new websites are already well underway, and I hope many more will follow this year, because I genuinely love doing this work.
