Dear Subscriber, thanks for joining me on my creative journey! In this month’s newsletter…

Laat ik beginnen met het allergaafste. Ik heb afgelopen weekend voor Wallhouse / het Groninger museum een masterclass stillevenfotografie mogen geven. De deelnemers kregen van mij een kijkje in mijn creatieve keuken en ik vertelde over mijn bijzondere reis van de wereld van de wetenschap naar die van de kunst. De deelnemers leerden hoe ze met eenvoudige middelen verrassend poëtische stillevens kunnen maken, wat heel goed uitpakte. Superleuk!

In de toekomst wil het museum een artist-in-residence van Wallhouse maken. Dat lijkt me wel wat, ik begin me er aardig thuis te voelen!

Let me start with the most exciting news. Last weekend I had the privilege of giving a still life photography masterclass for Wallhouse / Groninger Museum. The participants got a peek into my creative kitchen and I told them about my remarkable journey from the world of science to that of art. They learned how to create surprisingly poetic still lifes using simple means, which worked out really well. So much fun!

The museum has plans to create an artist-in-residence program in the future. That sounds pretty appealing to me — I’m really starting to feel at home there!

More gigs

Naast alle artistieke actie was de afgelopen maand ook op zakelijk vlak geslaagd. Met veel plezier o.a. een bruiloft en een promotie gefotografeerd en aan diverse websites gewerkt. Ook het gesprek met ondernemerscoach Wendelien Koop in Amsterdam was erg stimulerend. Die dag meteen ook even Huis Marseille bezocht. Work and pleasure.

Besides all the artistic activity, last month was also successful on the business front. I had great pleasure photographing a wedding and a graduation ceremony, among other things, and worked on various websites. The conversation with business coach Wendelien Koop in Amsterdam was also very stimulating. Of course I also took the opportunity to visit Huis Marseille. Work and pleasure.

Laatste kans: de tentoonstelling Comfortzone is tot en met 26 oktober elk weekend van 12.00-17.00 uur in Wall House #2 te bezoeken (gratis toegang).

En… Tot en met zondag 12 oktober heb je kans zelf in het museum te schitteren met jouw foto. We nodigen je in Wall House #2 namelijk uit om deel te nemen aan Kofferconversaties, het samenwerkingsproject waarmee Anita Oosterloo en ikzelf er exposeren.

Gebruik onderstaande vijf voorwerpen uit de koffer om een nieuw, uniek stilleven te creëren dat aansluit op de bestaande serie. Stuur jouw beste foto (maximaal 1 per persoon) naar wallhouse@groningermuseum.nl. De winnende foto wordt vanaf zaterdag 18 oktober toegevoegd aan de expositie in Wall House #2.

Laat je creativiteit dus spreken en wie weet schittert jouw foto straks tijdens de laatste week van onze expositie!

Last chance: the exhibition Comfort Zone can be visited every weekend until October 26, from 12:00 to 5:00 PM, at Wallhouse #2 (free admission).

And… Until Sunday, October 12, you also have the chance to shine in the museum with your own photo. At Wall House #2 we invite you to take part in Suitcase Conversations, the collaborative project through which Anita Oosterloo and I are exhibiting there.

Use all five objects from the suitcase — show below — to create a new, unique still life that connects to the existing series. Send your best photo (maximum 1 per person) to wallhouse@groningermuseum.nl. The winning photo will be added to the exhibition at Wall House #2 starting Saturday, October 18.

So let your creativity speak — and who knows, your photo might be shining during the final week of our exhibition!
