Business art award ceremony
Last week the award ceremony of the business art award took place in Utrecht. All your votes notwithstanding, I didn’t win, unfortunately... It was a very close call though!
The jury wrote: “In the work ‘Moving in circles’, Sander intriguingly depicted his fascination with the contrasting interplay of chaos and control. The body appears to be in complete physical control, with the unpredictability of the element water, combined with the suggested funnel through circles, having an almost hypnotic effect on the viewer. The technical sophistication of the digital photography, with the combination of analogue processing make it an extra poignant image. Of the more than 1,500 votes we received for the audience award, 409 went to your entry. That's good for an impressive second place, right behind the winner!”
So who won, I hear you ask? The winners of the jury prize are: Hagar Schuringa (graphic art), Onno Meeuwsen (painting) and Anjelica Cenia (photography; see first image - middle of the five photographs). The winners of the audience prize are: Peter Franssen (graphic art), Ahmad Mallah (painting) and Anjelica Cenia (photography). Congratulations to the winners!

Vorige week vond de uitreiking van de Business Art Award plaats in Utrecht. Ondanks al jullie stemmen heb ik helaas niet gewonnen... Maar het scheelde niet veel!
De jury schreef: “In het werk ‘Moving in circles’ heeft Sander op een intrigerende manier zijn fascinatie voor het contrasterende samenspel van chaos en controle verbeeld. Het lichaam lijkt in volledige fysieke controle te verkeren, waarbij de onvoorspelbaarheid van het element water, gecombineerd met de gesuggereerde trechter door cirkels, een bijna hypnotiserend werking op de kijker heeft. De technische verfijning van de digitale fotografie in combinatie met de analoge bewerking maken het een extra indringend beeld. Van de meer dan 1.500 stemmen die we ontvingen voor de publieksprijs, gingen er 409 naar jouw inzending. Dat is goed voor een indrukwekkende tweede plaats, vlak achter de winnaar!”
Dus wie heeft er nou gewonnen, hoor ik je vragen?
